The Seattle Seahawks new owner – Vinod Khosla – made a shocking admission during his first press conference after purchasing the franchise.
Khosla, who was accompanied by his wife Neeru Khosla and their son Neal Khosla, admitted that he has been a longtime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and despite becoming the owner of the Seahawks, he still plans to continue rooting for the Steelers.
“I also happened to come to this country in ’76 when the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl, so actually I was originally and still am a big Steelers fan,” Khosla said.
“Also, little known fact, but I still watch all the Steelers games, too.”
Vinod and Neeru Khosla became the new majority owners of the Seattle Seahawks after the NFL approved their purchase of the team at a $9.612 billion valuation.
The Seahawks have a new owner after almost three decades. Paul Allen purchased the team in 1997, and his sister, Jody managed them following his passing.
Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures and a Sun Microsystems co-founder, must sell his 3.1 percent stake in the San Francisco 49ers to complete the deal. His wife, Neeru, will serve as controlling owner, and their son, Neal, is expected to take a significant leadership role.
Khosla said the family has long been passionate about football and described the task in Seattle as simple: Keep winning and pursue another Super Bowl.
