Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen, who was formally charged with two misdemeanor offenses stemming from his drunk driving arrest earlier this week, is facing a minimum three-game suspension from the NFL, Adam Schefter reports.
The three-game suspension is a mandate by the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement and could be longer if a player is intoxicated at higher levels.
Allen is not expected to miss playing time while the case proceeds through the legal system. Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters the Colts are “allowing the legal process to play out.”
The NFL is expected to wait for Allen’s legal case to finish before it proceeds with any potential discipline.
The 34-year-old Allen joined the Colts on a one-year deal in August.
