Aaron Hernandez’s Lawyer Says His Death Could Be Murder, Not A Suicide

Aaron Hernandez took his own life Wednesday morning, found hanging in his prison cell around 3:00 am.

The suicide comes at a rather odd time considering the relative optimism following the outcome of his not-guilty verdict for the double murders and hope he could still appeal and get off for the original homicide charge he was currently serving a life sentence for. Combine that with the presumptive moral boost of being able to see his daughter for the first time while in prison and his lawyer, agent, family and others aren’t buying it.

Jose Baez, Hernandez’s lawyer who helped the former Patriots TE get acquitted a few days ago, won’t get the opportunity to try the case of his initial murder charge, but will shift his focus into an investigation to whether Hernandez’s alleged suicide, was actually a suicide and not a murder in itself.

According to TMZ, Baez believes this could be a murder either by inmates or the folks who run the prison.

A spokesman for Massachusetts prisons said Hernandez’s suicide was a shock to them, noting officials said he never appeared suicidal, and left no note in his cell. (Yahoo Sports)

A murder of Hernandez from face value would be a rather hard one to carry out, considering the 6’1″, 245lb. former star was big and strong enough to bully NFL defenses in his time on the field.
