San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl LB Aldon Smith is in the news again for all the wrong reasons. Smith was detained at LAX for allegedly screaming “bomb” at a terminal in the airport.
“At approximately 1400 hrs, a 24 year-old Aldon Jacarus Ramon Smith, a resident of San Jose, California, was going through Terminal 1 screening where he made a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb. Los Angeles Airport Police made contact with him in the gate area where he became uncooperative. After conducting their investigation, LA Airport Police took suspect into custody and transported him to LAPD-Pacific division where he was booked for California Penal Code 148.1(a) – False report of a bomb threat.” – A Los Angeles World Police Spokesperson
Aldon Smith was arrested in 2012 for DUI, in 2013 he was arrested for three counts of felony possession charges, he checked himself into a rehabilitation center last year and missed over a month but later returned. We don’t yet know the severity of this incident but it sure seems as though coming into today, the 49ers were on a very short leash when it came to Aldon and no word if this is the final straw when it comes to the star linebacker.
The 49ers have been the news recently for all the wrong reasons and are having an off season that is to forget. Chris Culliver was arrested last month and charged with a felony of hit and run and also weapons possessions. Colin Kaepernick and Quinton Patten were named in a ‘suspicious incident’ report that is being investigated by Miami Police. Early this year, in January, offensive lineman David Kilgore was arrested for public intoxication.
Whatever the case maybe with the other 49ers names that have been in the news for the wrong reason, the fact that Aldon Smith is back in the news again could lead to the 49ers releasing him. My guess is depending on what transpires over the next 48 hours will decide the future of Aldon Smith in San Francisco.
