November 18th has been a horrible day for quarterbacks of the Washington Redskins, says an ‘upset’ Joe Theismann following the Redskins 23-21 loss to the Houston Texans.
The loss was devastating in itself but the gruesome season ending leg injury to starting quarterback Alex Smith is what everyone is talking about.
Smith suffered the injury on a drop back pass in the second half when he was taken down awkwardly by Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt:

Smith was immediately carted off and the team announced after the game that their quarterback had suffered a broken right tibia and fibula and will undergo surgery right away.
If the injury wasn’t ugly enough, the play occurred 33 years to the day of former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann’s nasty leg injury that was suffered after New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor sacked him, breaking his tibia and fibula and ultimately ending Theismann’s career.

In addition to the injuries being on the same date, both games ended 23-21 in favor of the team the Redskins were playing:

The Redskins will now turn to backup quarterback Colt McCoy for the remainder of the season.
