Andrew Luck Helped Houston Roughnecks QB P.J. Walker Get A Chance In The XFL

The relaunch of the XFL has given a lot of football players an opportunity to showcase their talents in hopes of getting to the NFL.

During a game between the Houston Roughnecks and St. Louis BattleHawks, the commentary team told the story of how star Roughnecks signal caller PJ Walker made it to the team — thanks to some help from former Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck.

Walker played football at Temple University and went undrafted. He signed to the Colts practice squad and while never making it to the team’s 53-man roster, he formed a relationship with Andrew Luck during their time in Indy.

When the XFL relaunched, Luck’s father, Oliver Luck, was made commissioner of the league. One of Oliver’s big responsibilities was to assign quarterbacks for each team for the inaugural season. With the help of Andrew, Walker was given a chance in the league and so far it has worked out.

Walker is at the top of the league in passing touchdowns with seven and has the second-highest completion percentage at 62.3% while leading the Roughnecks to a 2-0 start.
