Atlanta Zoo Names Cockroach Tom Brady

Tom Brady has been called many names before both good and bad, but when it comes relative to the animal kingdom, he’s commonly referred to as the GOAT (greatest of all time). Not in this case.

Zoo Atlanta has named their newest cockroach after the Patriots quarterback as the result of a bet with another zoo located in Massachusetts.

Well … the New England Patriots won #SuperBowlLI, so that means we lost our bet with Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village. Before the game, our two zoos decided the losing side would name one of their baby animals after the winning team’s star quarterback, and figuring the losing side would be pretty bitter about it, we came to the agreement that baby animal … would be a Madagascar hissing cockroach. So without further ado – Meet our newly-named Program Animal family!

Now, Zoo Atlanta has plenty of adorable baby animals looking for names, but the bitterness still left in the mouth of Falcons fans everywhere likely prompted the decision to go with a  Madagascar hissing cockroach.
