It’s Mahomes time in Kansas City.

According to the Kansas City Star and confirmed by ESPN’s Field Yates, the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins.

The 33-year-old’s stint in Kansas City comes to an end after five seasons, the most recent of which featured a career high in passing yards, passing TDs and passer rating for Smith. The stats has little impact on the Chiefs post season success, with another disappointing early exit.

According to the Star, there’s no word yet on what Kansas City received in the deal although draft picks and players are suspected.

The trade cannot be officially completed until the first day of the new league year on March 14.

By trading Smith, the Chiefs will save $17 million and according to the looks of it, go with their 10th overall pick in the 2017 draft, Patrick Mahomes, at quarterback.
