There’s always extra hype and story lines surrounding a player on a new team playing against his former team.
What the occasional NFL fan may not realize is the schematic chess match played out leading up to the game, all because of the paranoia of what that player may or may not know. Of course a team doesn’t change it’s entire playbook each season, and with DeMarco Murray being the Cowboys offensive staple last season, he surly knew every play like the back of his hand.
The Cowboys of course knew this, and like other teams playing against newly former players, must adjust with misleading signals, plays, formations, ect. to deter the opponent from having an advantage through that player.
As it turns out, the Cowboys didn’t quite do the best job of this during the second meeting of the season, where the Eagles came into AT&T stadium and were able to beat Dallas in overtime.
A video has emerged of Murray literally calling out what the Cowboys were going to do to his Eagles defense pre-snap on the final drive of the game.
Gotta love it. Clearly the calls didn’t have too much of an advantage, considering Dallas did drive the length of the field and tie the game to send it into overtime.
