Gary Sheffield Jr. Calls Out Kaepernick To Accept Small Contract Like Cam Newton & Prove Himself

Cam Newton accepted a deal, the only deal he was offered, to play with the Patriots for an astonishing low amount of money. The contract would be low for a place kicker in the NFL, much less a Super Bowl quarterback and former league MVP.

Newton has made a pretty penny since entering the league in 2011 and made it clear that accepting the offer in New England was about respect and a chance to prove the doubters wrong, instead of being about the money, saying “This is not about money for me, it’s about respect.”

Colin Kaepernick on the other hand, who still remains out of the league largely due to his 2016 protests during the National Anthem, has turned down offers much greater than the one Newton accepted, which has drawn criticism from fans who argue Kaepernick is not being blackballed.

The situation led to Gary Sheffield Jr., the son of former MLB superstar Gary Sheffield, taking to Twitter to call out Kaepernick to accept a deal similar to Cam’s and prove he can still play after being out of the league for four seasons if he truly wants to play in the NFL.
