Browns WR Josh Gordon was just two days removed from returning from a suspension Thursday when via the Cleveland Browns, he released a statement explaining he would halt his return to football and focus on his life, by entering an in-patient rehabilitation facility.
Though no reports of yet another failed drug test have been released, the situation does seem odd.
Those suspicions may be realized after Scout.com released a report Friday morning that cite sources close to the situation claim that Mr. Gordon and his security detail were nabbed/questioned/detained via the TSA for attempting to carry marijuana onto an LA-bound flight. Yikes!
Via Scout –
Gordon entered Cleveland Hopkins Airport via an underground entrance and was escorted to the upper level to pass through security for his flight. He was accompanied by a member of his security detail. A TSA representative on the upper level recognized Gordon and his security from the below ground level just moments prior. Due to the strange nature of Gordon being shuffled through the airport, the TSA pulled Gordon aside, checked baggage in the possession of he and his security and found what our source tells us was nearly one pound of pot in their possession.
According to sources, Gordon immediately claimed that the pot was not his and pointed out his security detail as being the responsible party… an investigation is active at this time. Gordon and his security detail were detained while questioned following the finding, for an undetermined period of time. The TSA officials on the scene filed reports, some are ongoing as video evidence from the scene is being collected by the TSA, theOBR has been told by sources close to the incident.”
Gordon issued a statement on Thursday afternoon stating that he would enter a rehab facility and not return to the field with the Browns at the present time: “After careful thought and deep consideration I’ve decided that I need to step away from pursuing my return to the Browns and my football career to enter an in-patient rehabilitation facility. This is the right decision for me and one that I hope will enable me to gain full control of my life and continue on a path to reach my full potential as a person. I appreciate the support of the NFL, NFLPA, the Browns, my teammates, my agent and the community through this extremely challenging process.
