DENEVR, CO – Mark Sanchez’s time as a starter in Denver has come to and end.

The Broncos unprecedentedly lost both their quarterbacks following their Super Bowl 50 win, having to search for a replacement starter in a relatively poor QB market.

After missing out on Colin Kaepernick due to money holdups and passing on other QBs like Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Broncos chose Mark Sanchez. Settled may be the better word.

The QB was seemed like a bandaid solution to the quarterback-less Broncos this offseason in search if someone who had some sort of sufficient NFL experience.

In the draft, the Broncos selected Memphis QB Paxton Lynch as their seemingly quarterback of the future who would have time to sit under Sanchez.

As training camp progressed, another QB emerged into the mix, that of second-year Trevor Siemian out of Northwestern.

As the preseason went on, the 29-year-old Sanchez showed nothing to the Broncos coaching staff to prove he should be the starter, turning the ball over in costly situations, exactly what the mold of QB the Broncos need should not be doing.

Sanchez did not play in the Broncos’ 17-9 win over the Rams on Saturday as Siemian and Lynch took every snap.

One day later on Monday morning, the team officially announced that Siemian would be the Week 1 starter.

If they do end up cutting Sanchez as on of the 15 cuts they need to make by Tuesday, Denver is expected to bring in another quarterback to replace Sanchez, likely a veteran. T. J. Yates, who is the same age as Sanchez and knows coach Gary Kubiak’s offense, could be a logical fit at a cheaper price.
