There’s a growing sentiment around the NFL that free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick should be given an opportunity in the NFL.

That sentiment grew on Thursday when Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan echoed what many players around the league have been saying about Colin Kaepernick’s job status:

“As far as Colin being back in the league, I think he should have every opportunity to,” Ryan said. “He created awareness for a situation that — it’s taken some time — but people are becoming more active in terms of their response to it.

“I think from that standpoint, his protest is being heard at this point. It might have taken too long. But I think he should have every opportunity to have a job and have a spot in this league.”

Colin Kaepernick has been a free agent since the end of 2016, the same year he decided to kneel during the playing of the national anthem to bring awareness to social and racial injustices in United States.

The growing sentiment that Kaepernick could be getting an opportunity in the near future to resume his NFL career came in the wake of Roger Goodell’s statement after the death of George Floyd, in which he admitted that the league was wrong for not listening to it’s players when they protested in 2016.

Goodell also welcomed players peacefully protesting during the season.
