NCAA Shuts Down GoFundMe Started By Trevor Lawrence To Help Coronavirus Victims

As many around the world are looking to help out in different ways amid the Coronavirus pandemic, Trevor Lawrence and his girlfriend thought he’d do his part to help the community.

The Clemson star quarterback and girlfriend Marissa Mowry started a GoFundMe page to raise money that would go towards meals for the  victims of the virus. Only problem? It wouldn’t even last a day.

After raising $2,670, the NCAA and their ridiculous rules came rolling in and ordered Lawrence to shut down the account, which they said broke rules by using Lawrence’s name, image and likeness for crowd funding.

“Unfortunately Trevor cannot be a part of this anymore due to compliance and some rules, so he can’t help out anymore,” Mowry said in a video on her Instagram page announcing the NCAA’s decision. “Despite all of the craziness and drama with that we were able to raise a little over $2,500. So all of that’s going to go to Meals on Wheels and No Kid Hungry, which is super awesome,” Lawrence said in the video. “Thank you guys, all of y’all that donated. It’s really much appreciated. It’s going to help some kids and some elderly [people] somewhere, so it’s going to be very helpful. So we really appreciate y’all. Sorry for all of the drama and all of the confusion but we got it worked out.”
