The NFL is at it again;  They are investigating whether players who competed in The Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas broke league rules, according to ESPN’s David Purdum.

Amongst the players that were involved in the competition are former Seattle Seahawks Marshawn Lynch and current Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison:

Purdue notes that NFL players and officials are prohibited from appearing at casinos in a promotional capacity.

In 2015, an event hosted by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo called the National Fantasy Football Convention was canceled over concerns about prospective punishments from players who took part in the event.

The event was also set to take place at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The arm wrestling competition began on Wednesday and ends on Sunday. It will air on CBS Network in May, with the final episode airing in June.

The NFL’s executive vice president of communications and public affairs, Joe Lockhart told USA Today’s Jarrett Bell:

“Had we been asked in advance if this was acceptable, we would have indicated that it was in direct violation of the gambling policy.  No one sough pre-approval.”

The news comes at a bit of a surprise considering the NFL has recently voted to put an NFL team in Las Vegas.
