Josh Norman Will Shadow Odell Beckham Jr Because Victor Cruz “Dared” Them To

Through the first two games of the season, the Washington Redskins have had newly signed cornerback Josh Norman covering one side of the field regardless if the opposing team’s No. 1 wide receiver was lined up across him or not.

But after a request made by Giants No. 3 wide receiver Victor Cruz, that is going to change and Norman will shadow Odell Beckham Jr. through out today’s Redskins-Giants game in East Rutherford, NJ.

After Josh Norman didn’t cover Antonio Brown in Week 1, Victor Cruz called him out on it, via the NY Post:

“Especially if he calls himself – I don’t call him this, he calls himself – the best corner in the league, then you have to cover the best receivers on the other team, going in I thought he was going to follow AB all over the place, but he didn’t, so it is what it is. He made his choice.

“It’s always his choice. He can go to the powers that be and say, ‘Hey, I want to cover this guy.’ And if they say no, if maybe he did that and they said no, then I’ll have to eat my words. But for the most part you can go and make that request, I’m sure.”

It’s very hard to imagine the Redskins would change up their defensive scheme because an opposing team’s wide receiver requested for it, but this is the Washington Redskins and nothing they do should surprise you.
