LOVELOCK, NV – “Uncover anything you want in O.J. Simpson’s yard. He doesn’t care.” LAPD could unearth a written confession letter with the murder weapon labeled with a label maker and OJ Simpson could still under constitutional law, not be found guilty for the double murder’s he was acquitted of decades ago.
As timely as it seems with ESPN’s 30 for 30 on Simpson as well as FX’s new hit show, The People vs OJ Simpson, a knife was turned over to police in February which was allegedly buried in OJ’s yard for years before being found by a construction worker. That worker turned it over to an officer who kept the knife as a personal homage until now.
Jeffery Felix, a retired prison guard and a friend of Simpsons as well as author of “Guarding the Juice” told the New York Post that Simpson, “O.J. has a saying — ‘If the knife is rusted, I can’t be busted.” “Which, loosely translates to I did it but you can’t get me for it! Suckers!”
“He thinks it’s a total joke,” Felix added. “O.J. is laughing about it. He’s on top of his game. He’s like Muhammad Ali. He says almost every construction worker carries one of those folding knives. Anyone could have dropped it.”
The knife is currently being examined and tested for hair, fingerprints and any other DNA evidence according to LA police. No administrative charges will be filed against the officer who kept the knife, as he is now retired.
Because Simpson was found not guilty during his 1995 trials, he cannot be retried for the murders again as of double jeopardy.
