Pat Tillman’s Widow Releases Statement Saying Her Late Husband Fought For Freedom To Protest

The recent protests of the National Anthem has sparked all sorts of opinions and hot takes from folks around the nation.

Many have used the military as a shield to denounce the actions of some NFL players, who have protested the National Anthem due to the racial and social injustices in this country.

But one thing is for sure, Marie Tilliman, the widow of the late great Pat Tillman doesn’t want her husband’s story to be a tool in this political debate.

Marie released this statement on Monday asking her husband’s memory not be politicized. Marie Tillman also told CNN’s Brian Stelter that she hopes Donald Trump also sees her message and adheres to what she’s saying:

Tillman played four seasons for the Arizona Cardinals before leaving to enlist in the Army in 2002. He was killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2004.
