“Before many became entranced by the world of athletes and coaches, they were lost in the imaginary world of trainers and gym leaders.”

Pokemon hasn’t quite been in the headlines in recent years, but it’s looking to change that come February 7th during Super Bowl 50. In light and celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, it will be broadcasting a insane minute-long spot, titled “Train On,” which was pre-released on Monday, during the Super Bowl—the first time the animated video game and animated series will ever be a part of the famous game-break lineup.

Lifelong fans will notice subtle symbols in the clip; from Nidoking chess pieces to fire badge-emblazoned football helmets. It’s clear that due diligence was done to give this iconic branding justice.

And while the imaging is clear, the message is also clear: Keep training, keep collecting and keep the spirit and energy alive. While they likely hope to usher in a new generation of Pokemon lovers, it’s doubtful that any of their current legions of followers need reminding.
