The Miami Dolphins destroyed the Denver Broncos last week, 35-9. The result of the game wasn’t what was being talked about after the game but rather the onside kick attempted by Dolphins coach Adam Gase with his team up 33-9.

Gase was blasted by the media for his unsportsmanlike decision. But apparently Gase wasn’t trying to be petty, he was out to get revenge, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

According to Salguero, Gase believed he was the favorite to land the San Francisco 49ers job back in 2015, when he was the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos. However, he didn’t get the job because John Elway badmouthed him then 49ers GM Trent Baalke.

Initially, Gase didn’t address the situation because he thought Elway would have him take over as head coach of the Broncos. However, when Elway hired Gary Kubiak instead, it angered Gase. Shortly after, he joined the Chicago Bears as offensive coordinator and eventually became head coach of the Miami Dolphins last year.

And he’s been waiting for the opportunity to cast revenge on John Elway ever since and that’s exactly what he did last Sunday.
