REPORT: Cam Newton “Highly Unlikely” To Return To Panthers In 2020

Cam Newton’s tenure in Carolina may be coming to an end.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it now seems “unlikely” that Newton returns to Carolina next season. Newton is on injured reserve and is considering surgery to repair his injured foot:

Newton has 1-year remaining on his contract worth $18.6 million. Rapoport likened Cam’s situation similar to what happened with Joe Flacco last year.

As for the Carolina Panthers, Kyle Allen will remain the team’s starting quarterback for the remaining of the season. He will have the opportunity to show he’s the long term answer for the Panthers.
