Minneapolis, MN – The Vikings announced via Twitter today that they have cut Blair Walsh. The kicker, who’s been struggling ever since shanking the kick that would have advanced the Vikings in the NFC Wild Card game against the Seahawks last season, hasn’t found confidence through 10 games this season.

ESPN’s Ben Goessling told the media that Vikings GM Rick Spielman called Walsh, the Vikings kicker since 2012 into his office to tell him the news Tuesday morning.

Reports then are that Walsh missed the door wide left on his way out, breaking the glass pane. Security cameras in the facility captured the moment:

Goessling noted that the team noticed Walsh was struggling was everyday tasks at the practice facility and at his home, some of those included peeing,

making a cup of coffee,

and even pulling into his garage,

There is no word yet on if Walsh is on suicide watch at his Minneapolis residence, but team officials have notified authorities that if he did try to hang himself, he would miss the chair when trying to kick it out from under him.

“No need to kick him while he’s down,” Spielman said.
