REPORT: Giants Ownership Wants The Team To Draft A Quarterback With No. 2 Overall Pick

The New York Giants face an important decision tonight. Do they take a quarterback and build for the future or do they take a player like Saquon Barkley who have instant impact and help the team make a run in the finals years of Eli Manning?

Well, the Giants’ ownership maybe have answered that question for us.

According to Walter Football, both John Mara and Steve Tisch would prefer to see a quarterback drafted at No. 2 overall on Thursday night and not someone like Penn State running back Saquon Barkley:

The big mystery of the 2018 NFL Draft is what the Giants will do with the second-overall pick. I’ve heard that general manager Dave Gettleman has their top players rated Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb, and Quenton Nelson in the top three. However, I’ve also heard that the team’s owners want the organization to take a quarterback. If Sam Darnold does not go to the Browns, I’ve been told that ownership would not want Gettleman to pass on Darnold. That does not mean that Darnold or another quarterback will be the pick, but that is the latest scuttlebutt I’ve heard about the Giants.

Whether or not that’s the direction GM Dave Gettleman goes in, it’s clear ownership has made their desire clear and one thing we know, an owner gets what an owner wants.
