REPORT: Indianapolis Colts Are Reportedly Interested In Trading For Browns QB Brock Osweiler

As the regular season inches closer, more and more uncertainty surrounds the Indianapolis Colts quarterback situation and whether or not Andrew Luck will be ready.

Luck underwent shoulder surgery this offseason and has yet to be cleared and removed from the PUP list this preseason, leaving his status for Week 1 in doubt.

Matt Glensek of The Indy Star, reports that the Colts are interested in Cleveland Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler:

Yes, with Luck’s status uncertain, the Colts are looking at Brock Osweiler as a potential fill in until Luck is healthy enough to to return to the field.

The news shouldn’t surprise people, as Browns head coach Hue Jackson named rookie DeShone Kizer as the starter for Preseason Week 3, and also stated that Osweiler would not play at all in the Week 3 matchup.

As everyone knows, the third preseason game is the most important one and with Jackson deciding not to play Osweiler at all, it’s blatantly obvious that the Browns are looking to trade away the $72 million man to team desperate for a quarterback.

The Colts aren’t exactly desperate for a long term starter but with Luck sidelined, they do need a quarterback as their only backup otion sare Scott Tolzien, Stephen Morris and rookie Phillip Walker.

Tolzien is essentially the only starting option, but he’s been very underwhelming, completing 12 of 19 pass attempts for 94 yards and zero touchdowns so far in preseason.

There is another free agent quarterback on the market that is way cheaper and better than Osweiler that we would like to point out.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
