Jacksonville Jaguars Possibly Looking To Trade RB Leonard Fournette

There has been tensions between star RB Leonard Fournette and the Jacksonville Jaguars for some time now and it could boil over and end with a trade.

The rift this offseason began after Fournette sent out (and later deleted) a post where he wrote to Cam Newton asking when they would be teaming up together in Jacksonville after Newton was let go in Carolina.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” earlier this week, the 25-year-old made a pitch for his team to sign Newton after they had already committed to Gardner Minshew in trading Nick Foles to the Bears. Fournette touched on his relationship for with the free-agent QB for “a minute now” and said he feels like it would be a perfect fit.

“Like I told some people that talked to me, it’s no disrespect to Minshew. I’m just trying to get into the best position as a team [so] we can win,” Fournette said. “That’s all that was about. Just friendly competition, because [it] brings out the best in people.”

The remarks caused Jaguars coach Doug Marrone to talk on the matter, saying Minshew and Fournette might have to iron things out to ease any tension his words may have caused, not wanting it to spill over into the locker room.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is now reporting that Fournette might not be in that locker room come Week 1, with his name being brought up in trade talks.
