REPORT: Michael Bennett Fled From Police After Being Ordered To Stay Put Before Getting Arrested

Michael Bennett’s Aug. 26 arrest was made public today when the Seahawks star took to Twitter to describe the incident that landed him on the ground in cuffs.

According to Bennet, he was wrongfully detained by Las Vegas Police post Connor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather outside Drai’s Nightclub following gunshots being heard. While inferring he was arrested because he was a black man, Bennett described a situation where cops unnecessary brutalized him during the arrest, even pointing a gun at him, threatening to shoot him in the head.

Soon after Bennett released his statement, video of a portion of the arrest was obtained and released by TMZ, which shows Bennett being detained, but not threatened.

Hours later, TMZ received more information that the arrest may have not been unwarranted after all. According to TMZ sources, when cops responded to the scene for a possible shooting, they ordered everyone to get down and not move so they could properly search and investigate. Bennett allegedly did not stay put, but rather ran, only to be eventually ordered down by an officer at gunpoint (explaining the weapon Bennett described pointed at him).

Bennett was detained until cops could determine he was not involved in any possible criminal activity and was then released.
