REPORT: Pittsburgh Steelers “Unlikely” To Resign WR JuJu Smith-Schuster

In just the past two seasons, the Steelers have parted ways with arguably the best running back in the NFL, the best WR in the NFL, and now another star could be onto a new team as well.

Though JuJu Smith-Schuster appeared to be the next young talent to emerge as a star in Pittsburgh, escpially in the absence of Le”veon Bell and Antonio Brown, the WR is headed in his final year of his current contract, and it may be the final year in black and yellow.

Ed Bouchette of The Athletic reported this weekend that the Steelers are “not likely” to re-sign Smith-Schuster, while also stating the same for running back James Conner who does not appear to be in the long term plans for the team.

“A pair of Pittsburgh Steelers explosive offensive players are heading into their contract year and could be looking to join new teams in 2021. In a Q&A session with Steelers fans, Ed Bouchette of The Athletic said that he believes it is “not likely” that the team re-signs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back James Conner.

More precisely, when asked about the potential of Pittsburgh re-signing the players, Bouchette said “no” in regards to Conner and “not likely” regarding Smith-Schuster.”

Smith-Schuster recorded 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018, but only had 42 receptions for 552 yards and three touchdowns in 2019.
