REPORT: The Texans May Be Trying To Trade WR Deandre Hopkins

Though nearly every other league has shut down, the NFL’s free agency period is up and running, and that has some Texans fans nervous as of Monday morning.

Peter King of Football Morning in America is reporting that head coach Bill O’Brien has apparently made their star WR Deandre Hopkins available in treade talks, with at least two teams saying he’s a player to watch for a big trade.

While some contracts of star players make them nearly untradeable, the Hopkins’ contract does not.

According to ProFootballTalk, a team trading for him would have him under contract for three more years, with $40 million remaining on his deal, while the Texans would take only a $3 million cap hit. The 27-year-old having a career low in yards per catch last season doesn’t help either.

The decision will be that of O’Brien’s, as he is in charge of player personnel with the Texans electing to have no General Manager.
