Day 1 of the XFL relaunch did really well on Saturday as it hopes this go around is better than the last time.

While it will surely never overtake the NFL as the No. 1 football league in the world, the XFL has already surpassed the AAF, who couldn’t even last a year.

Even before the DC Defenders kicked off against the Seattle Dragons, the XFL had reportedly surpassed ticket sales revenue of the entire AAF season, according to sports business reporter Darren Rovell.

Over 17,000 packed Audi Field in Washington D.C. to watch the inaugural game. The capacity for that field is 20,000.

In the second game of yesterday’s XFL doubleheader, the Houston Roughnecks had little trouble defeating the Los Angeles Wildcats, 37-17.

The Roughnecks reportedly had 17,815 fans in attendance at TDECU Stadium.
