Rihanna Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Show To Show Support For Colin Kaepernick

Hundreds of millions of people will watch Maroon 5 rock the stage come February during Super Bowl 53 hits halftime, but it very well could have been Rihanna on stage instead.

According to US Weekly, the NFL asked the superstar to perform during this year’s halftime show, but the singer declined, and did so to show support for allegedly blackballed QB Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick has been out of the league since protesting racial inequality and social injustice during the National Anthem before games.

“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” according to an industry insider. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance,” the insider revealed.
