PHILADELPHIA, PA – As of Monday, Riley Cooper has been cut by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The wide receiver came under heavy scrutiny for making a racist comment during a Kenny Chesney concert back in 2013. After 6 seasons, he was released by the organization after they fired their head coach Chip Kelly 6 weeks earlier. Cooper was known as one of the players closet with his former head coach, a coach who was apparently had to become close with. Kelly also saw himself fall into the racial conversation when former running back LeSean McCoy accused him of being a racist after becoming a Buffalo Bill.

Cooper who’s 28, was the Eagles’ fifth-round draft choice in 2010. In his first three seasons under coach Andy Reid, Cooper caught a total of 46 passes for 679 yards and five touchdowns, per ESPN.

Most are aware that the month of February is Black History Month, and the fact that Riley Cooper was cut during the month was pretty humorous.
