Ryan Fitzpatrick Reportedly Told Madden Rating Adjusters His Rating Was “Too High”

This has got to be a first.

When the popular Madden NFL game comes out every year, most players immediately take issue with their ratings being way too low but in the case of Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, it’s the opposite.

In a feature by ESPN’s Michael Rothstein about the life of EA Sports’ Madden NFL ratings adjusters, one employee shared a story of the time he had a visit in Tampa Bay and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick walked up to him and told him his ratings was, indeed, exaggerated.

When Smith went to Tampa Bay, he said Lavonte David had no complaints. Just shook Smith’s hand and walked away. Then Ryan Fitzpatrick walked up and said something Smith had never heard before: His rating was too high.

“And then just walked off,” Smith said. “That was, by far, the weirdest one I’ve ever gotten. It’s one of my favorite stories.”

Fitzpatrick was initially rated at 73 in Madden NFL 19, but now sits at 79.
