San Francisco 49ers Owe $69 million To The Coaches They’ve Fired

No other team is spending money like the 49ers are to be bad.

Arguably the worst team in the NFL will be shelling out 69 million dollars to former head coaches who of course aren’t even on their staff any longer.

The team fired Jim Tomsula who was brought in to replace Jim Harbaugh, who was fired after bringing the team to a Super Bowl, only to fire Chip Kelly Sunday just a year after hiring Tomsula.

“Tomsula signed a four-year, $14 million deal with the 49ers, so they’re still on the hook for $7 million to him.

Kelly signed a four-year, $24 million deal with the 49ers last year, so he’s still owed three years of that, roughly $18 million.”

Kelly will be paid a bunch of money in 2017 to not coach an NFL team. He’s also due $6.5 million from the Eagles, who fired him following the 2015 season, just two years into his five-year deal.
