‘Space Jam’ Seemingly Predicted The NBA Would Cancel Games Nearly 24 Years Prior To Coronavirus Outbreak

Space Jam knew it was coming.

The legendary sports-animated comedy move staring Michael Jordan appears to have eerily foreshadowed the NBA’s sweeping move to suspend the season on Wednesday after the league announced that Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus.

Soon after the news, social media users were quick to point out a plot in the 1996 film where the NBA season was also suspended after players like Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing appeared to be infected with a mysterious illness that took their talents.

“Space Jam” was released on VHS on March 11, 1997
