Pete Carroll Has Awkward Moment When Reporter Doesn’t Know Who Jags HC Is

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley shakes hands with Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll following the game Sunday September 22, 2013 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA.

Peter Carroll graciously saved a reporter during an awkward exchange.

During Carroll’s weekly press conference on Wednesday, he was asked about the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Gus Bradley. The only problem with that question is, Bradley was fired by the Jaguars a year ago and is currently the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Carroll, who was clearly confused, didn’t go out of his way to make the reporter feel like an idiot, even though he had an easy opportunity to.

Here’s how Carroll navigated the goofy question, per Awful Announcing:

Reporter: Has Gus, with what he’s accomplished in Jacksonville, surprised you at all?
CarrollUmm, would you ask that question again for me? Help me out, I’m not sure where you’re going.
ReporterWhat Gus has done in Jacksonville, has it surprised you at all?
Carroll: Um, ok. Let me answer it this way. What Gus is doing with the Chargers is really good. He’s doing great. He’s the coordinator of the Chargers, and he’s always been a good coach. I’m sure it’s hard, like any time a coach moves and you look back and you see your team kind of emerging and doing their stuff, you wonder what it would have been like if you’re still there and stuff. Because he had a lot to do with building this team and this roster.
Carroll hasn’t been this confused since he decided to throw the ball on the 1-yard line in Super Bowl 49.
