Stephen A. Smith Thinks Ben Roethlisberger Should Retire Right Now

ESPN personality and avid Steelers fan Stephen A. Smith doesn’t think Ben Roethlisberger should play football anymore given his comments following Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars.

Stephen A said that it wasn’t the five interceptions Big Ben threw vs Jaguars but it was rather the comments made by Roethlisberger after the game is why he believes that the 14-yer veteran and future Hall of Fame quarterback should call it quits:

Here’s the full quote from Stephen A:

“I think Big Ben should retire, if you’re gonna sit up there and run your month the way you run your month exuding no confidence whatever after spending an entire offseason articulating an alarming level of disinterested or at least in-trepidation as to whether or not you want to play this football game and then you go out and you wet the bed and you play like straight garbage, you should go ahead and leave.

I’m not saying he should leave after one afternoon … I’m saying that if you are the star, the future Hall of Famer, the two time Super Bowl champion, supposedly the leader of this team … then you come out and you wet the bed like that? Why should anybody believe in you? You clearly don’t believe in yourself.

Go the hell home. Retire. Give it up. Walk away. Go home with the wife and kids, chill out and do what you gotta do.”

Smith did not think that Roethlisberger was being facetious when he said that he may not “have it anymore” after throwing five picks in Sunday’s loss.

“This man seems to have lost his confidence, he seems to not care about how his demeanor is resonating with the rest of his team. That’s my concern. I’m talking about his attitude. You either wanna play, or you don’t. That’s why I’m saying what I’m saying.”

Roethlisberger, who’s been heavily critical of his teammates in recent weeks must now face the music after his latest comments about retirement.
