Tony Romo Not Elected As A Captain By His Cowboys Teammates

Tony Romo though injured, is inarguably the heart and soul of the Dallas Cowboys. It’s safe to say without him, they aren’t the same – 10 losses not the same.

Though the NFL MVP award is given out to the best player each NFL season, if there was an actual Most “Valuable” Player, the Cowboys quarterback would definitely be high on the list.

Dallas went 1-11 without Romo last year (the quarterback broke his left collarbone twice). In his absence, Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel and Kellen Moore took turns as the starter. The Cowboys lost their only game without Romo in 2014. They lost their only game without him in 2013, too. Over his career, they are 78-49 when he starts and 10-23 when he has been out.

You would think after 13 seasons with the team that drafted him Romo would be a lock for captain right? Apparently not.

According to Clarence Hill of the Star Telegram, Romo was not elected captain by his teammates Friday ahead of their Week 1 game.

Though Romo is out with a broken back, the QB hopes to return before Week 10, proving the decision to leave him off as a captain a head-scratcher.
