UCF To Hang A National Champions Banner At Stadium, Ignore Winner Of Alabama-Georgia

The UCF Black Knights upset the Auburn Tigers Monday in the Peach Bowl to finish the season 13-0 as the only undefeated team in major college football.

Apparently in their eyes, that means National Champions.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs will duke it out in the official National Championship next Monday in Atlanta, but Central Florida athletic director Danny White has already made plans to hang a banner declaring them as the real champions despite not making it to the College Football Playoff nor the National Championship game.

The team even went as far as to change their Twitter name as well as tweet a post proclaiming the title of National Champs.

The Knights, who aren’t in the same zip code of a storied college football brand, were not only left out of the playoff by the committee, but left at number 10 in the polls.

The CPF executive director responded to claims by UCF players, coach and fans arguing they should have been in the playoff following the Peach Bowl Win saying, “UCF is an excellent team, but you still have to take into account who each team played and defeated during the regular season.”

Many college football fans would argue Alabama had just as weak of a resume relative to the level of competition UCF scheduled, which other would argue to relativity is exactly the problem.

Either way, the Knights are National Champions, at least in their eyes.
