Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was shot in the leg while at a night club over the weekend. Now if this seems like it sounds like nothing new, you may come to the recollection of Plaxico Burress, but that isn’t the reason why this isn’t anything new, especially for Talib himself.

The what’s now being investigated as a possible accidental shooting, comes just months after Talib gave a candid interview with Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones of ESPN’s Highly Questionable. In whats arguably the greatest interview of all time, Talib shared stories about how commonplace it is to carry guns (5 minute mark).

“Big Momma? She was like the duke of the neighborhood,” Talib said of his grandmother. “If there was a situation or a beef — Big Momma carried a gun with her all day long. She was in the grocery store with a .38 Special ready for any situation. Everyone around East Cleveland know Big Ma.”

The Broncos cornerback also brought to light the instance when his mother casually shot his uncle for playing music too loud and then his grandmother convinced him to not tell the police.

Jones followed up by asking if family shootouts “just kind of happen.” Talib answered with a concise, “It might go there, man, back in those hood days.”

When your family makes shooting yourself in the leg while in a nightclub seem like child’s play, you know you have one crazy family.
