If this doesn’t confirm that God hates the Patriots, we aren’t sure what will.

The New England Patriots are down to exactly zero quarterbacks left on their team after 3rd-string rookie Jacoby Brissett suffered a thumb injury in Week 3 against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.

The injury, which wasn’t apparent both during and after the game happened in the second half last night, and will likely need surgery to stabilize the thumb.

A fourth-round pick out of N.C. State, Brissett played extremely poised for a inexperienced rookie playing in a spot where even he couldn’t have forecasted coming into the season.

The Pats were forced to go with Brissett after Jimmy Garoppolo suffered an AC joint sprain in Week 2.

It’s unclear whether Garappolo will be healthy in time for the team’s Week 4 game, the last before Tom Brady returns from suspension. The Patriots may also explore free agency with a long week before their next game.
