As if the Eagles not winning the Super Bowl again next season wasn’t big enough a let down, Lane Johnson just made it even worse. Fans will now miss out on their team winning the Super Bowl and free beer.
The Eagles right tackle made a promise to the fan base Sunday, telling ESPN.com, “I have a lot to prove to this city. I think if we have a few big years and make the playoffs, if we win a Super Bowl, I’m giving out beer to everybody.”
Johnson violated the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances for the second time last season, costing him 10 games. If there’s any hope for the Eagles’ Super Bowl aspirations, the team went 2-8 in that span and 5-1 while Johnson was in the lineup.
Johnson and his team will look to win their first championship in the Super Bowl-era when they kick off the season September 10 against the Redskins.
