Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton came under scrutiny after remarks he made towards a female reporter on Wednesday.
Newton laughed at the reporter when she asked a question about wide receivers and running routes. A joke that has since cost Newton sponsors and many fans.
But on Thursday night, the Panthers quarterback issued a public apology via his Twitter account in which he explained what he meant by saying what he said and also showed remorse and regret.
Cam talked about his own daughters and the platform he’s been given to inspire many others including young females. Newton talked about his two young daughters and how he’s trying to raise him.
The most profound quote from the clip was Newton saying:
“I’ve already lost sponsors & countless fans. I realize the joke was really on me.”
We’ll wait and see if the Newton’s apology is accepted in the public eye.
