The Cleveland Browns are desperate for a franchise quarterback.
Former New England Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo was on their radar for the past year, but they haven’t been able to put a package together that was tempting enough for the Patriots to ship the coveted backup to Cleveland.
And on Monday, the Browns hope of Garoppolo fell to shambles as the 49ers traded for the former Eastern Illinois quarterback.
And it didn’t take a package of players and picks to get the deal done. The 49ers gave up just a second round pick and seeing how the Browns have a truck full of draft picks, it’s a head scratcher.
The Browns’ coaching staff knows this all to well, and according to reports, they are not at all impressed with the front office’s inability to get a deal done.
Here are the reports from NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright:
Got several emails last night that coaching staff for #Browns HIGHLY upset at front office.

The Browns have widely been criticized for their decision to pass up on quarterback’s Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz. They opted to go in a different route that has costs the organization, who’s been looking for a franchise quarterback for decades now.
It’s pretty clear that the dysfunction in the Browns organization is on another level.
