Gregg Williams Claims He Turned Down Four Head Coaching Jobs In Last 15 Years

Following the firing of head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Monday, the Browns named defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as the teams’ interim head coach.

On Wednesday, Williams met with the media for the first time since receiving the new title and reveled one of the more shocking things you’ll hear today.

Williams, who was last a head coach from 2001-2003 for the Buffalo Bills claims he was offered a head coaching job not once but four times in the last 15 years and he’s turned down every one of them:

Yup, you read that correctly. Williams, who was apart of the ‘BountyGate’ scandal in New Orleans was asked to interview 11 times for a head coaching job with four of those times being asked to “just show up and sign the contract” despite having a pretty bad record as a head coach, 17-31.

For the sake of Browns fans, who have suffered enough, let’s hope Gregg Williams’ interim head coaching gig with the team stays as that and the team finds a real head coach after the season.
