Looks like Kaepernick won’t be the only one out of work…
Stephen Martin, owner of Prime Time Sports in Colorado Springs, CO., is being forced to close it’s doors after more than 20 years in business. The move comes after sales have dropped off tremendously due to Martin pulling all Nike merchandise from his shelves and racks in protest of the company’s now infamous ad which featured Colin Kaepernick. The pulled items included mugs, hats, and much of NFL-affiliated goods including team shirts, hoodies and jackets, making up a huge portion of Martin’s top selling items.
On Monday, the store’s employees began posting signs in the store saying everything was 40 percent off.
“Being a sports store without Nike is kind of like being a milk store without milk or a gas station without gas,” Martin said.
Martin, who has a problem with players protesting during the anthem even went as far as to cancel a previously planned autograph session with Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall in 2016 after Marshall knelt.
“As much as I hate to admit this, perhaps there are more Brandon Marshall and Colin Kaepernick supporters out there than I realized,” Martin said.
