Boomer Esiason is really upset at Tom Brady.
Last week, it was reported that Brayd had recently filed to new trademark requests for the nickname, “Tom Terrific” for his company, TEB Capital Management Inc.
The purpose of this request was to have “Tom Terrific” trading cards, posters and fan apparel.

The filings indicate the company is planning to launch a line of "TOM TERRIFIC" trading cards and apparel soon.

This didn’t sit well with Tom Seaver fans because they knew that nickname belonged to him.
WFANās Boomer EsiasonĀ is one of those people and he does not appreciate the New England Patriots quarterback āsleazyā attempt to take that name.
āI love Tom Seaver. You know that. Iāve been advocating for a Seaver statue forever, since Citi Field opened,ā Esiason said Monday on WFANās āBoomer and Gioā radio show. āCraig Carton, my former partner, gave me a beautiful Tom Seaver statue for my birthday that my man Marc Mellon did for me. Itās beautiful, and it sits on my desk, and I have a reminder of Tom Terrific and who he was when he was at the top of his game for the New York Mets. And now, lo and behold, comes the greatest quarterback of all time trying to trademark the name āTom Terrific.ā āWhen youāve got so much goddamned money, you can do whatever you want, and this is now what Tom Brady wants to take: āTom Terrificā as his nickname. Maybe in New England they call him that, I guess. But you know what? Weāve been calling Tom Seaver āTom Terrificā forever, for as long as I can remember, for 50 years. Thatās who āTom Terrificā has always been.ā
āI am disgusted, and Iām really surprised, and Iām really, I donāt know, it just feels sleazy to me, you know?,ā Esiason said.
There are very few things that I get wrapped up in. I got wrapped up in this.
Thereās nothing I can do about it. All I can do is talk about it and hopefully shame him into not going after it and recognizing a true great of another sport that had the name and was given the name well before he was ever given the name.
The Met fan in me is basically really perturbed by it. It just annoys me because it takes me back to my childhood, and I donāt like people messing with my childhood.
All that anger over a nickname.
