Chicago Bears defensive end Akiem Hicks shared his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick’s protest and commented on his own team’s decision to not sign the free agent quarterback during the 2017 season.
Hicks spoke passionately to reporters on Wednesday about Kaepernick’s decision to protest against police brutality and racial injustices during the national anthem in 2016, noting that he thinks the Bears purposefully avoided signing the former San Francisco 49ers by pointing at their decisions to sign Mike Glennon:
The killing or George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer has led to many revisiting Kaepernick’s protest. The former 49ers quarterback has been a free agent since 2016.
