Drew Brees appeared on a virtual interview with Yahoo Finance Wednesday and was asked about the prevalent topic of the current state of our country and how that would make its way into the NFL season.
The Saints QB and NFL legend proceeded to give his personal feelings towards protesting during the National Anthem, saying he “will never agree” with someone who does it, which after an unarmed black man was murdered by police, was probably the wrong time to do so, whether you agree or not.
Stars from around sports, including LeBron James, Richard Sherman, and even Bree’s teammates and favorite target Michael Thomas called Brees out for ‘not getting it’.
Highlight: @readdanwrite asks @drewbrees what the star NFL quarterback thinks about “players kneeling again when the NFL season starts.”@drewbrees: “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.”

WOW MAN!! 🤦🏾♂️. Is it still surprising at this point. Sure isn’t! You literally still don’t understand why Kap was kneeling on one knee?? Has absolute nothing to do with the disrespect of 🇺🇸 and our soldiers(men and women) who keep our land free. My father-in-law was one of those https://t.co/pvUWPmh4s8

He’s beyond lost. Guarantee you there were black men fighting along side your grandfather but this doesn’t seem to be about that. That uncomfortable conversation you are trying to avoid by injecting military into a conversation about brutality and equality is part of the problem https://t.co/ON81UsOWPw pic.twitter.com/HH3EVTIH8p

This is a disgrace! To speak about your grandfathers as if there weren’t black men fighting next to them. Those men later returned to a country that hated them. Don’t avoid the issue and try to make it about a flag or the military. Fight like your grandfathers for whats right! https://t.co/qag3Igic3V

We don’t care if you don’t agree and whoever else how about that.

Drew Brees didn’t get the message. But at least he’s proving my point that for some folks, there is *no* acceptable way for Black people to demand their full rights as American citizens & equal protection under the law. https://t.co/WSREIBJlwF

.@drewbrees the reason my children have to live in a world that won’t empathize with their pain is because people like you are raising your children to perpetuate the cycle. Drew, you are the problem.
