REPORT: EA Sports Is Targeting July 2023 Release Date For Return Of NCAA Video Game

Ok, there’s some good news and some bad news…

The good news is EA Sports is working on a new NCAA College Football video game. The bad news, the game won’t be released until 2023.

Reporter Matt Brown obtained records from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) through an Open Records request that state EA Sports plans to launch the game in July 2023:

There will be more than 100 teams in the game, and their logos, stadiums, uniforms, and gameday traditions will be replicated in the game.

It should also be noted that student names, images, and likenesses won’t be in the game due to ongoing lawsuits and other legal matters.

While fans are happy to see the game comeback, institutions like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish announced it won’t be part of the title until better decisions come down regarding its student-athletes.

“Notre Dame Athletics welcomes the return of EA Sports College Football, a video game series that has historically helped promote interest in college football,” the statement said (via GI.biz). “Notre Dame will not, however, participate in the game until such time as rules have been finalized governing the participation of our student-athletes.”
