Bears GM Ryan Pace Says Andy Dalton Is Team’s Starter Despite Trading Up To Draft Justin Fields

There were literally celebrations in the streets Thursday night when the Bears who seemingly lost all hope in their team was delighted with a series of events that left them in position to trade up and take a QB many thought was the sure-fire No. 2 pick after the season.

Justin Fields is clearly the man that will save the Bears if he pans out, but according to Bears GM Ryan Pace, they’ll have to wait to see him under center despite trading up to nab the former Ohio State QB.

The heavily criticized GM spoke publicly after the first round of the draft and flat out said Andy Dalton is still the starter and they’ll have “a process” in place to groom him for the future.

The team now infamously tweeted out a picture of Dalton after the free-agency signing this offseason with the concise caption, “QB1.”
